The KayaTankTM was first envisioned by Jim "Mo" Molesworth in 1997 when he began fishing from his kayak and realized that he wanted to use live bait. Mo started with the same plastic bucket that most kayak fishermen use, dragging his pump and carrying the battery, along with everything else, in his tank well. This made the rear of the kayak too heavy. Mo knew there was a better solution.

He began searching for materials that would enable him to tuck his bait tank inside the hull of the kayak to free up the tank well. After a few unsuccessful attempts, the KayaTankTM was born.

The KayaTankTM came onto the scene in early 1998 when Mo met two fishing buddies, Neil and Bill, on Spike's fishing boards. They met one morning at the crack of dawn and paddled to the bait barge to split a scoop of 'dines. Neil and Bill filled up first and then paddled about 15 feet away. When it was Mo's turn, he showed the bait guy where his tank was and the bait guy started dropping sardines into his tank. Neil and Bill looked at each other in surprise when they looked back to see sardines being dropped inside Mo's yak.

Since then, Mo has outfitted most of his friend's kayaks with the KayaTankTM. Mo finally decided to patent his design in early 2002, when the number of kayak fishermen asking for "one of those" bait tanks kept getting bigger and bigger. Now, with the start of Angler's Yak Shack, Inc. in 2005, the KayaTankTM is available to all kayak fishermen to install in their kayaks.

In 2007 Angler's Yak Shack is proud to announce the opening of our new shop in Kearny Mesa, CA. Along with production and installation of KayaTanks we will also be a full service Ocean Kayak dealer. With all of the local and national support for the KayaTank we needed to expand. (Thank You!) We are very excited about our new venture!
